Slowcore trio Horse Jumper Of Love share woozy folk track 'Heartbreak Rules' and announce their new mini album of the same name. Not long after last years Natural Part, the band are set to follow it up with a collection of 8 new songs with alternate versions of previous tracks and a cover of Smashing Pumpkins 'Luna'. Singer and guitarist Dimitri Giannopoulos describes how this record came into being and also reflects on how his approach to making music has changer over the years: “When I started writing, I didn’t really know what it would be… I went into it with no intentions. As I play music more, I just want to play quieter. We’re rehearsing these songs as a full band now and we’re not blasting our amps like we used to–it feels really good. I think it has to do with our confidence level at this point. I used to play loud because I wasn’t confident in my vocal delivery or my lyrics, and now I want to showcase those things." The title track feels like a testament to this sentiment, far removed from their earlier, denser output, 'Hearbreak Rules' stripped back to its bare folky components, simple looping drum beats, gentle picked and subtle slide guitars and centred vocals, here the bands skills as songwriters surface in the space they leave.
